Launched in 2016, Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) encourages the usage of e-payments directly through the banks to facilitate cashless transactions. Interoperable with other UPI apps and various payment options, BHIM UPI has gained popularity in recent years. In this guide, we will walk you through all the associated details with BHIM UPI that you need to know. 

What Is BHIM UPI?

BHIM is a payment app that aids you in making easy and quick transactions using UPI. Through this online facility, you will be able to make or request direct bank transfers with individuals by scanning their QR code or entering their UPI ID on the BHIM UPI app. 

How to Register on BHIM UPI?

You can register and use the BHIM UPI app for the first time using the steps below.

  • Step 1: Download and install the BHIM app from the Google Play Store/Apple App Store.
  • Step 2: Choose your preferred language.
  • Step 3: Enter your mobile number that is registered with your respective bank.
  • Step 4: Set your app password to enter BHIM.
  • Step 5: Link your bank accounts using the ‘Bank Account’ option.
  • Step 6: Set your UPI PIN by providing the last 6 digits of your debit card and the expiry date of your debit card.

How to Login to BHIM UPI?

After registration and password set up, the BHIM UPI login portal requires you to just enter your registered credentials to log in to your application dashboard every time you open the application.

How to Pay Through BHIM UPI?

To easily send money to any UPI using BHIM, consider these steps.

1 Pay to Contact (VPA/Mobile Number)

  • Step 1: Log in to your BHIM mobile app and click on the ‘Send’ button.
  • Step 2: Choose the VPA of the payee/beneficiary. 
  • Step 3: Enter the amount and remarks associated with the transaction.
  • Step 4: Provide the UPI PIN to authenticate the transaction.

2 Pay to UPI ID

  • Step 1: Log in to BHIM and click on the ‘Send’ icon.
  • Step 2: Enter the UPI ID of the payee/beneficiary. 
  • Step 3: Specify the amount and remarks associated with the transaction.
  • Step 4: Enter the UPI PIN to authenticate the transaction.

3 Scan QR and Pay

  • Step 1: Log in to your BHIM app and click on the ‘Scan & Pay’ option.
  • Step 2: Scan the QR of the individual to whom you want to transfer the money.
  • Step 3: Enter the amount and remarks associated with the transaction.
  • Step 4: Enter the UPI PIN to authenticate the transaction.

You can easily link your RuPay Credit Card to your BHIM application using the following stepwise guidelines.

  • Step 1: Open the BHIM app on your device.
  • Step 2: Enter your password.
  • Step 3: Choose ‘Bank Account’ on your screen.
  • Step 4: Tap on ‘Add Account’.
  • Step 5: Click on ‘Credit Card’.
  • Step 6: Select your credit card issuing bank.
  • Step 7: Choose your credit card and click on ‘Confirm’.
  • Step 8: Select to view accounts.
  • Step 9: Click on your account from the available options.
  • Step 10: Select your UPI PIN.

Once you go through the above-mentioned steps, you can successfully set your UPI PIN to your RuPay credit card and can seamlessly make transactions using BHIM UPI.

What Are BHIM UPI Transaction Limits?

Users are allowed to transfer up to a sum of ₹1,00,000 per transaction and a maximum of ₹1,00,000 per day for one bank account. Hence, this limit is available per bank account linked with BHIM.

How to Pay a Credit Card Bill Through BHIM UPI?

You can pay your credit card bills using the Scan and Pay option of the BHIM UPI app. Here’s how to do so. 

  • Step 1: Open the BHIM app on your device.
  • Step 2: Enter your password to log in.
  • Step 3: Click on ‘Pay Bills’ on your UPI app.
  • Step 4: Verify the details displayed on your screen.
  • Step 5: Enter your preferred amount to pay.
  • Step 6: Generate your QR.
  • Step 7: Scan your credit card bill (QR Code) using BHIM.
  • Step 8: Enter your UPI PIN to authenticate this transaction.

You can alternatively choose to set up an autopay option to pay your bills seamlessly.

How to View BHIM UPI History?

Follow the instructions provided below to view your history of transactions/payments done on the BHIM app. 

  • Step 1: Open the BHIM UPI app on your device.
  • Step 2: Enter your password to log in.
  • Step 3: Click on ‘Transactions’.
  • Step 4: Select ‘Transaction History’ to view all the past transactions in one place.

How to Check Bank Balance via BHIM UPI?

Check your bank balance using the following steps.

  • Step 1: Open the BHIM UPI app on your device.
  • Step 2: Enter your password.
  • Step 3: Click on the ‘Settings’ tab.
  • Step 4: Select the ‘Request Balance’ option.

Your account balance, along with the transaction history will be displayed on your screen.
