HDFC Bank has announced changes to its domestic airport lounge access for its credit cardholders, effective from June 10, 2025. The bank has also announced changes to its credit card charges, which will come into effect from July 1st 2025.

The lounge access will now change from a swipe-based system to a spend-driven voucher system. The bank has also implemented usage thresholds and a fee if it exceeds the threshold.

In this blog, we will discuss these changes related to airport lounge access, usage threshold, and fees for exceeding the threshold.

HDFC Credit Card Lounge Access-

Here are some of the changes made related to HDFC credit card lounge access-

  • Domestic lounge access will be available only with a lounge voucher from July 10, 2025.
  • Cardholders must spend at least 50000 on their HDFC bank credit card to be eligible for airport lounge access.
  • Once you hit the milestone, you will get the lounge coupon that you can use at the domestic airport lounges.
  • Some of the lounges may charge additional fees for some of the services, such as food and beverages, as well as some amenities such as a nap room, massage or spa.
  • Lounges may add a maximum stay limit that can be 2-3 hours in order to prevent overpopulation.
  • Lounges stays incur additional expenses and can get you two complimentary domestic lounge vouchers per quarter.

Conclusion:

HDFC Bank's recent revision to its credit card lounge access and charges shows a significant change towards milestone-based and restricted incentives. With the introduction of spend-linked lounge vouchers and transaction-specific charges, customers must be more aware of how they use their cards to avoid unnecessary fees and maximise rewards.  While these modifications may reduce the benefits of casual usage, they also promote responsible spending. As these adjustments take effect in June and July 2025, customers should assess their credit card usage habits and adjust accordingly to continue enjoying the best of HDFC's offers.
