March Bank Holidays in 2026

The following March festival holidays will be observed by banks in different parts of India:

  1. Holi (4th March): Holi celebrates love and is eagerly anticipated as a joyous festival. On this day, people throw coloured powders and splash water at each other, which brings moments of happiness. Fortunately, Holi falls on a Friday this year, giving people an exciting weekday holiday.
  2. Chapchar Kut (13th March): Observed in Mizoram, this popular festival marks the end of winter and welcomes the arrival of spring. On this day, the locals celebrate the harvest season by singing and dancing in traditional attire while spending quality time with family and loved ones.
  3. Jamat-al-Vida (20th March): On this occasion, Muslims bid farewell to the final Friday of Ramadan. To acknowledge the significance of this special day, people head to the mosques for special prayers. Also, grand preparations start for Eid-ul-Fitr, which is about to follow.
  4. Eid-Ul-Fitr (21st March): This day every year marks the end of Ramadan. To celebrate the occasion, people gather with family and friends for prayers, share meals and offer food to those in need.
  5. Shree Ram Navami (27th March): This festival is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Lord Rama, the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu, who was born to King Dasharatha and Queen Kausalya in Ayodhya to restore dharma.
  6. Mahavir Jayanti (31st March): This festival celebrates the birth of Lord Mahavira, the 24th and last Tirthankara (spiritual teacher) of Jainism, marking his arrival to guide humanity towards truth, non-violence (Ahimsa), and self-control.

Some of these public holidays in March may change due to various reasons. Thus, you need to keep an eye out for updates on any official government announcements and similar insights regarding bank and festive holidays.
