May 9 marks his 146th birth anniversary as per the bengali native calendar he was born on the 25th day of the month of Boishakh. Tagore was a great Bengali poet, novelist, painter, social reformer, and philosopher from West Bengal, India; he is the only poet whose songs serve as the national anthems of two free nations, India and Bangladesh. Tagore has been honoured with names such as 'Gurudev', 'Kabiguru', and 'Biswakabi' for his contributions to literature, music, and art, which have shaped India's cultural and political history. About Rabindranath Tagore

Rabindranath Tagore was born on May 7, 1861. He was the son of Sarada Devi and Debendranath Tagore. He grew up in Kolkata's historic Jorasanko Thakurbari. He was educated at home and began writing at a young age, quickly outperforming many of his peers. Rabindranath Tagore contributed to Bengali literature and politics for which he got recongnition. His poems, short stories, songs (known as Rabindra sangeet), dramas, and novels are still admired and studied in all realms of art. 

Tagore was the first non-European who won the Nobel Prize in 1913. He won it in literature for “Geetanjali” , his collection of poems. His influence expanded beyond literature to include music, visual art, philosophy, and education. He established Visva-Bharati University in Santiniketan, which still exists today.
