List of EPF Claim Forms: Types of EPF Forms and Withdrawal Steps

The Employee Provident Fund (EPF) is a mandatory savings scheme designed to provide financial security to employees after retirement. Employees need to fill out an EPF claim form to access their provident fund after retirement or during financial needs. 

There are different types of EPF forms available for claim purposes, employees need to fill out the correct form for a hassle-free fund disbursement. Find the list of EPF claim forms in this article to get a clear idea about which form to fill out and when. 

Definition of EPF and EPF Claim Forms

During employment, both the employee and employer contribute 12% of the employee’s basic salary, including the Dearness Allowance, to the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) account. These contributions accumulate interest over time, helping employees build a financial cushion for the future.

Employees can access the corpus after retirement or during a job change. However, it is not advisable to withdraw EPF amounts during a job change but to transfer them. Depending on the withdrawal reasons, there are 11 types of withdrawal forms available for employees. Employees can fill out the correct form according to the withdrawal reason and submit it.

Types of EPF Claim Forms

Here is a list of EPF claim forms that employees can choose from to apply for withdrawals:

Form 10D

Retired employees can apply for a pension by filling out and submitting this form.

Form 10C

Retired personnel can claim the fund as per the Employee Pension Scheme or EPS by submitting it. 

Form 14

An employee can pay for their policy of life insurance by filling out this form.

Form 19

Required for the final settlement of an employee's EPF account.

Form 20 

Used by the nominee or legal heir to claim EPF funds in case of the account holder’s demise.

Form 51F

The nominee or a legal heir can claim assurance benefits per the Employees' Deposit Linked Insurance.

Form 31

Employees need to fill out this form for advance or partial withdrawal of their EPF amount.

Form 13

Employees can submit this to transfer their pension or Provident Fund amount between accounts. 

List of EPF Claim Forms as per Subscriber Types

The type of EPF claim form to be submitted depends on the subscriber's employment status, age, and reason for withdrawal. Below is a detailed breakdown:

  • EPF Form Type for Unemployed EPF Subscribers Because of Disabilities

Find the form types from the list of EPF claim forms, for unemployed individuals because of disabilities:

  • Individuals Below 58 Years: These individuals can use Form 19 to receive their full EPF balance and pension.
  • Beyond 58 Years With 10+ Years of Service: Such unemployed individuals can claim their entire EPF balance and monthly pension using Form 19.
  • Individuals Beyond 58 Years With 10+ Service Years: They can submit Form 19 for full and final EPF settlement and submit Form 10C for withdrawal benefits.

EPF Forms for Submission in Case of Demise of EPF Subscriber

The legal heirs or the nominees can claim EPF amounts in case of the demise of an EPF account holder as per age and service tenure:

  • If the age was below 58 years (in Service), the nominees can use Form 20 for full EPF settlement and submit Form 51F to get EDLI insurance.
  • If the age was below 58 years (not in Service), the nominee or legal heir can submit Form 20 for full EPF benefits and pension.
  • In case an employee is above 58 Years old with 10+ years of service tenure, a nominee can fill out Form 20 for full EPF and pension claims; and Form 51F to get EDLI insurance.
  • If the employee’s age was beyond 58 years with less than 10 years of service, use Form 20 to get the final EPF amounts; Use 10C for withdrawal benefits and 51F for EDLI insurance.
  • In case the age was over 58 Years with 10+ Years of Service Tenure (not in Service), the nominees can use Form 20 for full EPF and monthly pension claims. 

Types of EPF Withdrawal 

The Indian government allows two types of EPF withdrawal. Before applying according to the list of EPF claim forms, take a look at the types of withdrawal: 

Withdraw the Provident Fund Completely

Under the below-mentioned conditions, an employee can withdraw the full amount of the EPF balance:

  • An employee can withdraw their entire EPF balance after their retirement or after reaching 58 years of age.
  • In case an employee is unemployed for more than 2 months, he or she can withdraw EPF. In this case, a gazetted officer needs to attest the form. 
  • An employee cannot take the full EPF amount unless he/ she is unemployed for over 2 months while switching jobs.

Withdraw EPF Balance Partially

An employee can opt for a partial withdrawal of their EPF amount in the following scenarios by filling the correct form from the list of EPF claim forms:

  • In case of medical emergencies for the employees or their dependents, they can apply for a partial Pf withdrawal.
  • An employee can apply for a partial PF withdrawal to fund their children’s education. 
  • One can also claim a partial EPF amount from their account to gather funds for marriage purposes.
  • To fund home construction or buy a new home, employees can take a portion from their provident fund.
  • Employees can claim a portion of their PF to pay instalments of their home loan. 

EPF Withdrawal Online Procedure

Now that you have a comprehensive idea about claim forms from the list of EPF claim forms, follow the steps below to apply for EPF withdrawal online:

Step 1: Open the official website of UAN.

Step 2: Type your UAN ID and your password to log in. Fill out the captcha for verification. 

Step 3: Navigate to the option, “Manage” and select “KYC”. Verify your KYC details here like, your Aadhaar and PAN number, bank details etc.

Step 4: Look for the option, “Online Services” and select “Claim (Form-31, 19 & 10C)”.

Step 5: Type your banking information to get the fund.

Step 6: Select “Yes” and then choose the option “Proceed for Online Claim”.

Step 7: Now you need to choose the type of claim you want to proceed with under the option “I want to apply for”.

Step 8: Carefully go through your application once again and select “Submit”. The website might request that you upload soft copies of verification documents.

Step 9: After the approval of your EPF withdrawal application, you will get your funds within 15-20 days.
