Step 3: Choose the SBI credit card that you want to close from the list if you have multiple credit cards from the bank. Note that you need to clear dues or EMIs before placing a card closure request.

Step 4: Upon selecting your card to close, click on the option “Submit” to successfully register a card cancellation request. 

Step 5: You will receive a confirmation SMS and an email upon submitting the request. The bank might take up to 10 days to process your card closure request. 

How to Close SBI Credit Card by Sending an Email?

Apart from net banking, you can submit an SBI credit card cancellation request via email. Take a look at the steps to submit a request by sending an email to SBI customer care:

Step 1: Compose an email using your bank-registered email ID to send to customercare@sbicard.com

Step 2: Under the “Subject” section of the email, type "Request for cancelling credit card” and state your request in the mail body.

Step 3: Include key details like your name, registered mobile number and the last 4 digits of your credit card number with the cancellation reason. 

Step 4: Send the email to the above address and wait for the bank to respond.

Step 5: If your details are verified successfully and dues are cleared, you will receive an email with confirmation. 

How to Close SBI Credit Card via a Call?

If you are looking for how to deactivate SBI credit card, you can do it by calling SBI customer care as well. The following are the steps to do so:

Step 1: Dial the SBI customer care number 1800 180 1290 or 1860 500 1290 or 1860 180 1290 on your mobile and call using your registered number.

Step 2: Follow the instructions you hear after placing the call to get connected with a customer support representative.

Step 3: Raise your credit card cancellation request with a representative upon connecting. Provide the card details and a few personal details for verification.

Step 4: Upon fulfilling these requirements, the representative will register your request. Within a few days, SBI will deactivate or cancel your credit card.

Steps to Follow to Close SBI Credit Card by Writing

Apart from sending an email, learn how to close SBI credit card by sending a handwritten letter:

Step 1: Draft a handwritten letter, mentioning your name, card and contact details. 

Step 2: Send this letter to SBI at the following address: SBI Card, Fourth Floor, Unit No. 401,402, Aggarwal Millennium Tower, E-1, 2, 3- Netaji Subhash Palace, Wazirpur, Delhi, New Delhi, India -34.

Step 3: Wait for the bank's response. If your cancellation request meets all the required conditions, your credit card will be successfully cancelled.

Cancel Your SBI Credit Card by Visiting the Nearest Branch

You can follow the traditional method of closing your SBI Credit Card by visiting your nearest SBI branch:

Step 1: Go to the nearest branch with the required documents like your account details, credit card, PAN Card, etc. 

Step 2: Obtain a credit card closure form from a bank representative.

Step 3: Duly fill out the card closure form with proper credit card and personal details, and submit it to the bank.

Step 4: SBI will verify details and other factors and will process your credit card closure request.

How to Close SBI Credit Card by SMS?

It's important to know how to close an SBI Credit Card, especially if it is lost and you want to protect it from unauthorized use. One quick way to do this is by sending an SMS to the bank with a specific code to initiate the cancellation process.

Type BLOCK <space> the last 4 digits of your SBI credit card and send this code to 5676791. Note that you need to send this code using your bank-registered mobile number to block or disable your credit card.
