Step 8: Wait for a 6-digit OTP (One Time Password) that will be received on your registered email ID/mobile number.

Step 3: Proceed to enter your PAN in the ‘Enter your User ID’ textbox on this new page.

  • Must link the PAN with the respective bank account (this is mandatory for individual login)

Income Tax Login Through the Net Banking Portal

Step 1: Go to the Income Tax Department’s official website/login page and proceed to click on ‘Login’.

  • If the e-Filing Vault Higher Security is enabled, you must type in your User ID as well as the Password; select ‘Through Net Banking’.
  • If the option is not enabled, you may scroll to 'Other Ways to Access Your Account'; and select 'Net Banking'.

Step 7: Once you are successfully logged in, click the e-filing portal link that is provided by your selected banking institution.

Prerequisites for Income Tax Login Via DSC (Digital Signature Certificate)

Here are the prerequisites you must oblige by in order to log in to the income tax portal via Digital Signature Certificate:

  • Valid & active DSC (Class 2/Class 3 Certificate)
  • You must install and run the emSigner utility on the respective system
  • You must insert the DSC USB token (from a Certifying Indian Authority)

Steps for Income Tax Login Via DSC  

Here are the steps you can follow to log into the income tax portal via DSC:

Step 1: Go to the Income Tax Department’s official website/login page and proceed to click on ‘Login’.

Step 2: Provide your PAN and click on ‘Continue’.

Step 3: Verify the ‘Secure Access Message’.

Step 4: Type in your password.

Step 5: Choose the DSC Option and proceed to click on ‘Continue’.

Step 6: Select either ‘New DSC’ or ‘Registered DSC’; click on ‘Continue’.

Step 7: You must then confirm that you have installed the emSigner software. If not, click on the provided download link.

Step 8: Choose the Provider and Certificate on the data sign page. Proceed to put in the provider password; click on ‘Sign’.

Post-verification, you shall be able to access the e-filing Dashboard.

Steps for Income Tax Login Using Aadhaar OTP

The following is a step-by-step guide on logging into the income tax portal using Aadhaar OTP:

Step 1: Visit the Income Tax login page and click on the ‘Login’ option.

Step 2: Type in your PAN under the ‘Enter your User ID’ textbox and click on ‘Continue’.

Step 3: Confirm the ‘Secure Access’ Message’ and click on ‘Continue’.

Step 4: Choose ‘I already have OTP’ if you already have an OTP. Alternatively, click on ‘Generate OTP’.

Step 5: You will then be required to validate the Aadhaar details. Proceed to click on ‘Generate Aadhaar OTP’.

Step 6: Put in the 6-digit OTP that you received on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number. Click on ‘Login’ right after.

After the verification process is complete, you shall be redirected to your e-filing Dashboard.

Steps for Income Tax Login Using Bank Account or Demat Account EVC

Here’s how to log into the income tax portal using your bank or demat account EVC: 

Step 1: Go to the Income Tax website login page and find the ‘Login’ button.

Step 2: Put in your PAN and proceed to click on the ‘Continue’ option.

Step 3: Verify the ‘Secure Access’ message. 

Step 4: Provide your password, and click on ‘Continue’.

Step 4: Choose the ‘Bank Account EVC/Demat Account EVC’ option and click on ‘Continue’.

Step 5:

  • Choose ‘Generate EVC’ in order to receive the relevant code on your registered mobile number.
  • Choose 'I already have EVC', in case you already have the EVC.

Step 6: Put in the EVC and click on the ‘Login’ option.

Once verified and validated, you will get access to the e-filing Dashboard.

Steps for Income Tax Login for Other Users (TAN/ERI/CA/ITDREIN/External Agency) 

If you are logging in as a TAN holder, ERI, CA, ITDREIN user or an external agency, follow the steps below to access the Income Tax portal:

Step 1: Go to the Income Tax Portal login page and click on the ‘Login’ button.

Step 2: Put in the relevant User ID as per the following:

  • TaxDeductors/Collectors: TAN
  • CA: ARCA + 6-digit membership number
  • ITDREIN User: PAN/TAN + 2 letters & 3 digits
  • External Agency: EXTA + 6-digit number
  • ERI: ERIP + 6-digit number

Step 3: Confirm your ‘Secure Access’ Message.

Step 4: Type in your password and click on the ‘Continue’ button.

After successful verification, you will be granted access to the dashboard.

Steps to Reset the Password for the Income Tax Portal 

Here are the steps you can follow to reset the income tax portal password:

Step 1: Go to the home page where you can opt for e-filing. Select the option available to reset your password.

Step 2: Another page shall pop up. Put in your PAN Number. Proceed to enter your captcha code. 

Step 3: Click on the ‘Continue’ button to initiate the process of password reset for income tax login.

Step 4: You may reset your income tax e-filing ID password through any of these 4 options available:

  • Provide OTP
  • Provide Aadhaar OTP
  • Answer the secret question 
  • Upload the DSC 

After you’ve chosen your preferred method, the password will be successfully reset.
