Minor PAN Card Application
A minor PAN card is for children below the age of 18 years, unlike a regular PAN card, which is for Indian individual adults. While a minor’s income especially from investments or other sources is typically clubbed with that of their parents for tax purposes, having a PAN card in the minor’s name can open doors for early financial independence.
In this guide, explore the key benefits of this PAN card and learn how to apply for it with ease for smooth and secure financial transactions.
Requirement of Minor PAN Card
A minor requires a PAN card in the following scenarios:
- If the parents make their minor child a nominee in an investment, financial instrument or shares.
- In case the parents invest in the minor child’s name.
- When a bank account or a Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana account is opened under the guardianship of a parent for their minor daughter.
- If the minor is visually disabled or earns income through talent, skills, or other sources, that is taxable in their own name rather than being clubbed with a parent’s income.
